“OPEN STUDIOS 2012”
Life Inside the Lofts!
Celebrating 34 years in the South End
Friday, November 2, from 6 – 9 pm
Saturday and Sunday, November 3 & 4, from 12– 5 pm
845 Canal Street, Stamford, CT
Roam the lofts, meet the hottest emerging and established artists and see where and how art is created. Art lovers, young and old, first timers and loyal followers of the event will congregate at 845 Canal Street for the largest art event of its kind in the area. Painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers and mixed media artists will be displaying their work in 20 studios, a 1200 square foot gallery and the hallway common areas. All the artists will be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions and you will also meet three brand new LAA members.
”We’ve been opening our doors for over 30 years and are still thrilled and look forward to sharing our work and lives with the community.” Says LAA president, Lisa Cuscuna. “This is the largest cooperative of working professional artists in the area, so if you’ve never attended Open Studios please stop by and meet us….we all love to talk about our work.”
The Loft Artists pioneered the Sound End setting up an artist colony in the old Yale & Towne Factory that now boasts state of the art apartments. Holding exhilarating art events in the parking lot that now holds cars destined for Fairway, they produced happenings, performances, tours and lectures that attracted thousands of people from the tri state area. They taught workshops, gave demonstrations and opened their doors inviting the community to see the creative process first hand…. and now, 34 years later (in their new location, at 845 Canal Street) they continue their great outreach tradition and invite you to what has become known as Stamford’s greatest art experience, “OPEN STUDIOS 2012”,
So join us on Friday, November 2 from 6 -9 pm and Saturday and Sunday November 3 & 4 from 12 to 5pm.
The annual celebration is held this year in memory of beloved emeritus member, TINA ROHRER who recently lost her courageous battle with cancer.
The Loft Artists Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to building connections within Fairfield County’s visual arts community and exposing the general public to artists and their work. Their grassroots events attract thousands of visitors throughout the tri-state area and have been recognized by funding agencies, including the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, corporate and private sponsors, the City of Stamford and by visitors who return year after year.
