10/13
Last night was the Friends of Ferguson Library Author Series, highlighting Gabrielle Hamilton, and Colman Andrew. A few excerpts were read and it turned out to be an exciting event. Wine and appetizers, book sale and signing.
I wouldn't normally attend book signing, after a long day, but I gave it a try. It could have been a yawn fest, but not last night. Very entertaining authors/speakers and the best complement of appetizers by ZAZA Italian Gastrobar. (my fav--little hats pasta and broccoli rabe --yum.)
Gabrielle Hamilton is other chef/owner of the influential restaurant Prune in Manhattan's East Village. Her best selling memoir, Blood, Bones & Butter was published in 2011. She has also contributed articles and essays to the The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Food & Wine.
Colman Andrews was the co-founder and editor -in-chief of Saveur magazine, and a former restaurant columnist for Gourmet. He is the co-author and co-editor of three Saveur cookbooks and the author of six books of his own. His latest will be released next month.
Both authors weren't crazy about the Food Network, reality food related programing or event food Bloggers. However, I think that any type of media that puts a spotlight on food in general, is good. Bring it on...
On a totally different subject,
Next author series is slated for Nov 2, 6pm. Wine reception at 6pm. Steve Berry, author of The Jefferson Key, Andrew Gross, author of Eyes Wide Open, and Peter Spiegelman, author of Thick as Thieves. Reserve online at fergusonlibrary.org or by calling 203-351-8275.
