FREE Concert Tonight - Gato Barbieri!

ALIVE @ FIVE - FREE CONCERT
TONIGHT THURSDAY - July 10, 2008
Columbus Park, Stamford Downtown
Concerts begin at 5PM

STARRING: Gato Barbieri

Argentine jazz tenor saxophonist and composer Gato Barbieri rose to fame during the free jazz movement in the ‘60s and from his Latin jazz recordings in the ‘70s. His score for Bernardo Bertolucci’s film Last Tango in Paris earned him a Grammy Award. It is legend that more babies have been born as a direct result of his song “Europa” than any other single song in history. www.gatobarbierinewsletter.com Two other amazing bands will open for Gato Barbieri!

COSMIC JIBAROS - Sponsored by George Boyce, State Farm Insurance
Emphasizing on structured songs that build to pulsing, sweaty heights, the skilled musicians of Cosmic Jibaros draw from diverse backgrounds. The band has redefined the Latin rock band, building from Latin and Caribbean rhythms, adding funked up guitars and accordion flourishes to achieve a sound both cross-cultural and highly danceable. www.thecosmicjibaros.com

SummerLost
Expanding on modified classic jazz tunes, SummerLost produces a one of a kind sound. The band’s unique twist on timeless songs fuses swing, blues, rock, funk and hip-hop into a style of their own. www.summerlost.com
