Whether it's helping to run a
event, attending meetings, communicating with merchants or just dropping off the mail, our summer interns are more than helpful -- they are a welcome addition to the office. We share ideas and work on projects side by side. We've been super lucky to have some terrific interns, and this year is no different. This year, we have three interns: Eric, Scott and Lauren. (We expect one more at the end of June) Their home school asks them to document what they are learning/projects they work on-- all of which I plan to share here with you each week.
Most recently, they are working on our Sculpture and ArtWalk events.
Here's a short Summer Intern update...
This past week, we have been
working on writing the scripts for the sculpture tours. We have enjoyed reading the background
information on the artists, viewing their sculptures, and creating the tour for
next week’s “opening party”. We have also
enjoyed learning about all of the planning that goes into the creation of an
event. It has been really interesting to
see how much work has to be done, and all that may be overlooked. All of the effort that the staff puts into
each and every event here at the DSSD is extremely apparent within the office. We have also been working on The Art Walk,
which is being held on June 14th and 15th. It has been
great for us because we get to walk around the downtown talking to merchants
about the event.
