Pansies, pansies and more pansies
1,680 yellow and 432 blue pansies will appear in Stamford Downtown
For the last 20 years the Stamford Downtown Streetscape Volunteers, led by Streetscape Coordinator Marion Glowka, have marked the onset of spring with the planting of thousands of pansies in planters and gardens through out the downtown. This year is no exception. Once again as many as 16 volunteers, affectionately nicknamed Garden Groomers, have taken on the task. 2,100 plants were be dropped off on Broad Street this morning and distributed to pairs of volunteers who carried them to their assigned location around the downtown. Watch for this sign of spring at Old Town Hall, Kiwanis Park, Spring Street, Broad Street and Atlantic Street-- as well as many other downtown locations.
