In 2009, when Andy Pforzheimer opened the Barcelona Wine Bar downtown, he says restaurants were struggling. But last year he opened another restaurant next door, Bartaco. "We took a gamble," he says.
Night life also has been boosted by a business-improvement group named the Stamford Downtown Special Services District that sponsors free summer concerts and expanded Stamford's Thanksgiving Parade.
