Tappo, 51 Bank Street, held their grand opening celebration last night. (It is right aside Old Town Hall.) The festivities began with Mayor Pavia making a cut to their ceremonial ribbon, and continued with some wine and antipasti for all. Despite the rain, the colorful balloons and spirits were a float. Joseph and Aldo Crisculo, with their executive Chef Massimo Stecchi, and along with their General Manager Gerarado Mascolo, have great food and a very special place in Tappo--it is a beautiful space. Behind the bar is this awesome brick oven covered in stunning abalone tiles. Just stunning.
Tappo is an Italian eatery, serving a classy lunch and dinner. I sampled some of the delicious desserts at the grand opening and was swept away with gastronomical enjoyment. Wow. The tiramisu was to die for. So was the cream puff. So was the pistachio panna cotta. Having only a sample, it has left me hanging on to what else I need to discover on my return trip. (which I hope is sooner than later).
A warm welcome, and much luck, to this new addition to the downtown area......as with each new restaurant is a new adventure.
