Peter and the Wolf Ballet
May 31, 2013

The Ballet School of Stamford presents two exciting, family-friendly ballets: Peter & the Wolf and a one-act suite of Don Quixote.
Peter & the Wolf is about a boy’s adventure as he tries to capture a dangerous wolf and makes animal friends along the way. Based on a popular Russian children’s story and features Prokofiev’s popular and engaging score. Choreography is by veteran dancer Alex Brady, who has worked with the Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet and Twyla Tharp Dance.
The Don Quixote suite is based on the epic masterpiece by Miguel de Cervantes. This one-act ballet, full of Spanish color and flavor, is well known for its lively choreography and memorable characters.

Pansy planting in Stamford Downtown…

Pansies, pansies and more pansies

1,680 yellow and 432 blue pansies will appear in Stamford Downtown

For the last 20 years the Stamford Downtown Streetscape Volunteers, led by Streetscape Coordinator Marion Glowka, have marked the onset of spring with the planting of thousands of pansies in planters and gardens through out the downtown. This year is no exception. Once again as many as 16 volunteers, affectionately nicknamed Garden Groomers, have taken on the task. 2,100 plants were be dropped off on Broad Street  this morning and distributed to pairs of volunteers who carried them to their assigned location around the downtown. Watch for this sign of spring at Old Town Hall, Kiwanis Park, Spring Street, Broad Street and Atlantic Street-- as well as many other downtown locations.

St Patrick's Day Info; OmNom Blog shared

Some Excerpts from OmNom blog: Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in and around Fairfield County

Stamford Downtown:

7) You’ll be disgraced if you don’t hit up the Stamford St. Patrick’s Day Parade on 3/9, starting at noon.  Check out the map below to see the route.  They encourage you to head on over to the Hibernian Hall on Grove Street for the after parade party.  Nice!

8) So, there’s the parade at eye level and then there’s the parade at Station Eats level.  If you don’t know already, they have a prime viewing spot up on their beer garden.  But, there’s an even more convincing reason to check out Station Eats during the parade:  from 11:30 am to 2:30, for only $15 per person, you’ll get ALL. YOU. CAN. DRINK. HALF. FULL. BREWERY. BEER.  Combined with their killer dogs, burgers, shakes, and sandwiches, that just sounds like a wicked pissah of a time.  Plus, they’ll validate your parking at Landmark Square.
9) Because the parade has a new route, it’ll be passing by Tiernan’s!  Best believe you’ll want to come down for a nice Irish food menu with live music all day.  Yes, there will be Irish dancers and bagpipers…plus, lots of drink specials and even some giveaways!
 10) You could also check out Murphy’s Townhouse after the parade at 1.  There will be a corned beef and cabbage buffet along with drink/shot specials.  Plus, The Tipperary Knights will be playing.
11) You could also hit up Fiddler’s Green after the parade for Irish dancers, bagpipes, and Valance.  For St. Patrick’s Day, check out their open menu and their “famous” corned beef and cabbage.  Hmm, we’ll have to try that.  There will also be Irish dancers, bagpipes, and drums!
12) Wanna win a trip to Ireland?  Enter in Tigin’s contest then check out their St. Patrick’s Day celebration!  The doors open at 10 am (get started early) then their party tent opens at noon.  There’s a $10 cover charge from noon-midnight, but there are also Irish dancers and live music.  We’re talking Last Hoorah at 1, Bliss at 5, and Cray and Dempsey at 9.
Thanks to OmNom for this awesome info!
