Dance with me....

Guess who's having a birthday!
Dance with Me turns 2 on April 16

A little apprehensive, but don't really know why.  I joined a Tuesday dance party at Dance with Me this past week.  Grabbed the hand of David, one of the owners of DWM for a private lesson. As a person growing up in the 80's, I've had my share disco days, but not much on the Cha Cha, Fox Trot or Rumba.

The lesson started with David asking me a few questions.   3 things about me....what type of music do I like, what kind of person am I one other I can't remember because my gaze at David was so transcendent.
So because I'm not the most coordinated, David was in for a challenge.  "Stand tall" he said.  Posture is so important.

As he twirled me around the floor, we engaged in conversation about the journey DWM has taken these past 2 years.

After my lesson, the lights dimmed and the Tues night dance party began. Couples all gathered on the floor and began to circle around.  At least 6 couples were there, but don't need a partner to party.  It all comes together when you get there.

As the winter turns to spring, why not try some thing new- change up your Aerobic routine. Everyone needs a good twirl every now and then.

Stamford Downtown welcomes Spring!

Here's what going on...

Stamford Downtown welcomes Spring with our annual pansy plantings.
For over last 20 years the Stamford Downtown Streetscape Volunteers, led by Streetscape Coordinator Marion Glowka, have marked the onset of spring with the planting of thousands of pansies in planters and gardens through out the downtown. This year is no exception. Once again as many as 16 volunteers, affectionately nicknamed Garden Groomers, will  have taken on the task this past week.
Over 2,000 will adorn our streets-- see if you can spot them around town.. Watch for them at Old Town Hall, Kiwanis Park, Spring Street, Broad Street and Atlantic Street as well as many other downtown locations   #stamforddowntown

Gov. Malloy: Metro-North Will Provide a Special Train for UConn Fans
NCAA Tournament Friday in Madison Square Garden

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that MTA Metro-North Railroad will run a special, extra New Haven Line train on Friday, March 28, to accommodate UConn men’s basketball fans expected to travel to New York City for the NCAA tournament at Madison Square Garden (MSG).

The train will depart New Haven at 4:15 p.m., make a stop in Bridgeport at 4:36 p.m. and arrive in Grand Central Terminal (GCT) at 6:00 p.m.  In addition, extra cars will be assigned, as available, to several trains departing New Haven between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., especially the 3:50 p.m. train from New Haven.

"Both UConn Huskies basketball teams are again taking the NCAA tournament by storm and gaining the nation's attention.  There will no doubt be a large contingent of Connecticut fans traveling to New York City to cheer for the men on Friday," Governor Malloy said.  "It's time to turn MSG into a home game for our Huskies."

F I S H

Lunched at FISH this week. If you were thinking that its the old BOCA -no, no, no.  It's new management with a new menu.  So you want to know what I ordered...I had the lobster & crab chowder with a side of crab cakes.  It was outstanding. My friend had the lobster Cobb salad which was perfect.  (even if my pic is blurry). I'd rate it a five star menu with five star service-- you should give it a try and see what I mean.  Quiet space. Great service.  You might not be able to read the menu I posted below, but you might be able to make out some of it. Enjoy.

Celebrating 20 years of Volunteer Beautification of Stamford Downtown

On March 6th, Stamford Downtown’s Streetscape Coordinator Marion Glowka honored nine “Garden Groomer” volunteers who have been with her since the beginning.
For twenty years, these volunteers have planted pansies, spruced up our planters, and enhanced our downtown gardens. We’d like to celebrate the dedication of these volunteers, as well as Marion’s leadership, in making Stamford Downtown beautiful. In addition to the nine original volunteers, there are seven individuals who have participated for ten or more years, ten for five or more years, and seven new members to the Garden Groomers family.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who bring natural beauty to Stamford Downtown!  To volunteer as a  Stamford Downtown Garden Groomer, email dssd@stamford-downtown.com
