Stormy in Stamford Downtown...

It snowed at lunch time today in Stamford Downtown. I know it doesn't look like snow,  but believe me, it was snowing.  At the moment it's not sticking, so that's a good thing.  Hoping everyone a safe journey in the inclement weather.

Tigin on Bedford Street - with a bow...

Again, did you notice the nice gold bow, hung on the light post, at the front of Tigin? These golden bows, 134 in all,  help decorate the downtown area all season.  They are attached on a wreath sway and located all around town.  And in our effort to be “green”, you’ll see these bows make another appearance next year as we recycle them! They add to the beautiful seasonal display in Stamford Downtown. Check it out during the holiday season as they are all cleaned up and packed away for next year.

The end of the marking period is drawing near for many Fairfield County Schools, and Rodizio Grill Stamford is offering local students an additional incentive to strive for great grades – a free meal at the restaurant!

“We are very excited to introduce our new educational program, ‘Making the Grade,’ to the local community,” said James Layfield, owner of Rodizio Grill Stamford. “The next time your child earns a stellar report card, please bring it to our restaurant and we’ll reward your straight 'A' student with a “Full Rodizio” lunch or dinner.”
The restaurant’s Making the Grade program will be available to all students who are currently enrolled in any of the Fairfield County elementary, secondary or high schools.  Each qualifying student will receive a free meal when accompanied by the purchase of an adult entree and upon the presentation of a report card from the current school year. In the news: Homer Wise - Thehour.com: Home

Our new addition to Vet's Park in Stamford Downtown...Check it out.

 Learn more about Homer Wise:
A soldier during World War II, Homer Lee Wise was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, The Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, three Purple Hearts and ten other decorations.
One of the most honored soldiers of all time, he made it a quiet point of honor to never mention them to anyone. His own son only found out when he was twelve, from a friend.
In not mentioning-for almost a quarter of a century, that he was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, when doing so would almost certainly have been to his material benefit, he teaches us a lesson worth sharing, and that is exactly what we plan to do by erecting a statue of Homer with a plaque explaining what he did, and why after the war he never mentioned it to anyone, leading the life of an ordinary citizen of Stamford, when of course he was anything but ordinary.
