Be on Alert - Sign up for the City of Stamford Emergency Alert Program

City of Stamford Emergency Alert Program:The City of Stamford has implemented a state-of-the-art emergency notification system to alert citizens about emergencies and other important community news. The emergency notification system, provided by Everbridge, enables the City to provide essential information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, fires, floods, unexpected road closures, or evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods.

How Emergency Alerts Work

The process begins when the City issues a message about a potential safety hazard or concern. Messages will be sent to all standard voice and text communication devices, including land line phones, cell phones, e-mail, and more. If you don't confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach your second contact number or email. The system will continue trying to contact you until it receives a confirmation from you.

To receive important communications from the City, residents, business owners, and neighbors must register the voice and text communication devices where they wish to receive messages.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

Click here to add your contact information to the City's emergency notification system. Residents, businesses, and neighbors with listed telephone numbers have already been included in the system. You may use the registration link to include additional ways to contact you. All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential.

Stop Receiving Alerts

Click here to opt out of the City's emergency notification system. You must provide all communication devices you originally registered into the system to opt out completely. By opting out of the system, you will no longer receive emergency or community notifications.

TAP Cafe - celebrated the Irish (oĆche chaidrimh f4)

Attended the TAP Cafe event at the Palace last night. Here's the scoop.....

It's a new monthly gathering for young professionals, local companies and area residents in Stamford Downtown.  This was the second one so far.  I'd have to say that it was a nice crowd--a nice mixer. (A little hint here: Guys need to jump on this band wagon, cause  they seemed to be outnumbered by the women for this night.) I think once the word spreads, it will be the perfect classy social venue for those looking to meet up with friends after work for a little networking.

Last night's Irish theme was just in time for St Pat's Day.  It was corned beef and cabbage all the way!  Yummy "eats" were from Black Bear, SBC and Libby Cooke Catering.  (I have a favorite, but I'll keep that one to myself.) But I can tell you that the Mint Brownies, ala Libby,  were sobhlasta!

The music was seriously Irish, with live tunes by Dan Tressler and his Irish Fiddlers.

Great tunes.  No one was dancing, but maybe next time.
Or maybe another glass a wine 'ill do it...

Next TAP cafe is April 8.  Mark your calendars!
Time: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Cost: $20.00 per person (includes 2 bar drinks & appetizers)
You need to buy at ticket.  (In advance or at the door)  Call 203-325-4466 or buy online at www.scalive.org.

Steve Wilkos - he's here to help

Got a problem?  Steve can help.  Steve Wilkos, that is. (hairless guy on the left) He listens to all kinds of relationship problems and lends his advice to those who want to work at a solution. That's his show in a nutshell, I suppose.  Well, Stamford Media Center, NBC Universal has recently relocated to Stamford (At least for the next couple of years.)  They are easily accessible and located at Atlantic Street and Tresser Blvd,  at the Rich Form.    If you would like to be part of the audience, taping information and tickets are available at http://www.stevewilkos.com/

I attended a taped "Steve" show just recently.  Ready to cheer and holler the mantra "Steve, Steve, Steve", I met up with others patiently waiting to enter arena.
The show I attended, airing on 3/2, is titled "Steve got it wrong" (go to http://www.stevewilkos.com/ to see it now). This episode was a little intense.  Apparently, Steve's director handed him the wrong lie detector results, which he had no idea--until it was too late of course.   The so-called cheated on girlfriend retaliated with physical violence and craziness ensued.  Didn't really matter, cause the so-called cheated  on girlfriend didn't believe the results anyway.  See the video for yourself.  (If you are trying to spot me in the audience, I'm wearing red.) When it was all over, Steve came out and thanked everyone for coming.  That was cool.  I found it strangely entertaining.
